A wonderful week ahead
HiHope you had a wonderful week. Rains are still playing truant all over the country....power cuts and water cuts have started. Power is shutdown in the mornings for three hours. In hyderabad, the government has requested people and offices not to use their air conditioners. In jammu there is a power shutdown every two hours........61 years after independence, our country is still facing power shortage all across the country including metropolitan cities.
Our politicians as usual are making tall promises........CM of Maharashtra has promised to make Mumbai another Shanghai in the next few years......whether that dream will be realised is a guess for me as of now and will have to wait for those few years to see where we are. He doesnt realise that getting the requisite infrastructure ready will itself take decades becoz he has been unable to provide a proper road infrastructure in the city of Mumbai. Traffic jams are the norm today in Mumbai. Last week I had to travel a distance of 7 kms but it took me 45 mins to cover a distance of 2 kms. So you can imagine when I would have reached the destination, but I took the alternative of gng through a longer route and reached the destination in another 45 mins.
On the other hand China has withdrawn all its vehicles from the streets of Beijing before the Olympics so that the guests have a pollution free atmosphere and free movement of the delegates is possible during the olympics. Will India be able to take such a decision when Commonwealth games are going to be held in Delhi in 2 years time??
Looking at the horse trading going on in our political parties over the last few days will put anybody to shame. It has become a MP bazaar and this reminds me of the old days when market place auctions used to take place for slaves. Anyways let us see what happens on the 22nd.
Anyways let me wish you all a wonderful week ahead. Enjoy and rock. God bless you with success and happiness in whatever you do. Here are few thoughts which I received during the week.
No one will manufacture a lock without a key; Similarly God will not give problems without solutions.
Art of Living If life throws lemons at you, don"t make a lemonade out of it. rather ask for tequila and salt. Think differently.
Nothing happens without a reason....!! "A person who has come into your life has come either to teach you something or to learn something from you.
The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back 2 you. A happy heart makes the face cheerful. May your life be as HAPPY as your heart.
On the shore of life, all good relations are like waves; They come and go but they touch such a way that a feeling of closeness remains forever.
Don"t let your HEART be a dustbin to dump all your worries and sadness, but let it be a treasure box to preserve all your happy moments and memories of life
Life is a like a tennis match - If you want to win; you have to serve well; return well; Play crucial moments coolly and remember it starts will "LOVE ALL"

Thoughts
Hi
Hope all fine with everybody. Due to hectic work schedule, have been unable to post anything worthwhile. Here are a few thoughts received by me in the past 10 days and worth sharing. Have a wonderful week ahead. Keep writing and keep smiling.
SPEED can be calculated "MILES PER HOUR" and LIFETIME can be calculated "SMILES PER HOUR" Always keep smiling and be happy.
If the path is beautiful let us not ask where it leads to; If the destination is beautiful let us not ask how the path is. Keep walking and you will reach the destination.
Relation is not collection of hearts but it is a selection of hearts. All relations are not true but few are true and it includes you.
Until you value yourself, you wont value your time; Until you value your time, you will not achieve anything with it.
Powerful thought "Even a small dot can stop a big sentence; but few more dots can give a continuity." Amazing but true.
A beautiful saying: "The will of god will never take you where the grace of god will not protect you"
3 lines Believe in miracles but dont depend on them; Better understand a little than misunderstand a lot; Don't limit your challenges......but challenge your limit.
All the powers in the universe are already ours; It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.
A nice thought "When we have the heart to forget those who made us smile; Why can't we have the heart to forgive someone who made us cry."
WORRY is the interest paid on trouble before it is due; So never get worried for your future... It is like paying interest before it is due.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything; They just make the best of everything. Goodness is the only investment that never fails to return a dividend.
By the way, today I am completing my first year on rediffland and the year has been a memorable one. Have met many people and got some friends from the iland. Hope the year ahead also is a good one. Thanks to all the fellow ilanders and special thanks to the one who introdcuced me......... encouraged me to go ahead posting blogs.

Travel Light to enjoy the journey of Life
Hi This is an article by Tia Paranjape which appeared in the Times of India newspaper yesterday and was worth sharing.
I often wonder: Is it possible to love without attachment? We do have so much love to give, but is it the right kind of love? We tend to feel a kind of ownership over all that we love though we don"t own anything or anyone. It is easier to utter the words "I love you" than to actually mean it. Love is perceived in many different ways. My mother would say: "Love, but never be possessive of what you love. Once you are possessive, you might claim "this is mine" when in actuality nothing or no one is yours."
We are all here on a spiritual journey. Along the way we find several co-travellers who become part of our lives but they too have their own destination. There is a hierarchy of love. Right on top are parents, spouse, children, siblings, other family and friends. Love stops here and further down the ladder it becomes "like". Sri Sathya Sai Baba says love all as if your own. He talks of universal love. This is not easy to follow but maybe we could try. For starters, we could do little things that make people smile. A kind word or tone would not take away from you but give a lot to the other person. Sri Sathya Sai Baba says: "If you want peace and if you want happiness you must live in love. Only through love will you find inner peace. Only through love will you find true happiness. Love flourishes through giving and forgiving. Develop your love! Immerse yourself in love!
"...Love is the basis of everything. It is the single most important quality that has to be developed. All your thoughts must become immersed in this quality of love... then truth will naturally establish itself in your heart."
People who serve are Godlike; their service should be appreciated, whether they belong to your peer group or not. We need to learn to love without attachment. We love those who we feel are ours. What about the rest? Why is an amazing emotion like love saved only for those few people who we perceive as ours? For instance, how might one learn to love the person who has wronged us? I guess i would say OK, don"t love, but at least try not to hate. That is an improvement.
Again, received wisdom from my mother says things can never bring you happiness. Once you"ve bought something, its value diminishes. At first i used to think that was not true, but in time i learnt that it is one of the few truths in life. I constantly try and make an effort to not get attached to "things" now because at the end of the day they are things. This doesn"t mean don"t shop, don"t want... it means realise that actual happiness cannot be attained from anything external.
Enjoy all the things you have and be grateful for it, as that too is the grace of God but do not expect it to give you anything. I find my peace every evening as i sit by myself and watch the sun set. That is when i feel real joy. The sun sets with such ease and that is how we should be.
I would get attached to songs and smells! Some smells can take you back in time and songs too can transport you to old memories. It is nice to remember but if we dwell on the past we are missing out on the present; we tend to miss out on new smells and songs as we"re so preoccupied with the old. We have to let go, because holding on to something does not give us ownership rights. So much baggage! To enjoy the journey, travel light. In other words, practise loving detachment.

Thoughts for the month
As I sit down to write this blog while watching the Euro 2008 finals, the rains have started lashing the mumbai city after a long lull in the month of June. Sitting near the window and watching the rains falling down heavily with heavy winds made me wonder whether this will continue for a longer period this time around or an one day affair. Hope all of you had a wonderful week and getting ready for the long grind ahead in the month of July. Here is wishing you all a wet and rain filled week ahead. Enjoy the rains, live for the day and enjoy the week doing what you feel best.
Here are a few thoughts for the week :-
We won"t be finished when we are defeated but we are finished only when we give up and quit. Winners never quit........Quitters never win.
Don"t listen to those who tel you stop dreaming and face reality; Just keep telling yourself "KEEP DREAMING and MAKE IT REALITY"
Whatever we do, we must always remember our aim;If you want to fly with eagles, don"t swim with the ducks.
Conquerors never stop at obstacles; they break them with their optimism and march ahead stronger than before.
ERASE all your worries in life; SAVE the moments when you are loved; CALL DIVERT your problems to God; DOWNLOAD your hopes in him and wait for HIS RINGTONES.
The result of Anger is more painful than the reason of Anger. So never forget this simple thing.
Wonderful combinations in this world Heart and Beats Night and Moon Music and Songs Roses and Love Fish and Water My blogs and your wonderful comments
People say true friends must always hold hands; but true friends don"t need to hold hands because they know the other hand will always be there.
A good thought Erasers are for people who make errors; But a better saying would be Erasers are for people willing to correct their mistakes.
Everybody says "Mistake is the 1st step of success" but thats not true "The realisation and correction of the mistake is the 1st step of success".
So with these thoughts I would like to wish you all a Happy rainy season. Let there be Shower of love, Greenery of money, Thunder of Fame, Lightening of power and a small drop of memory to remember me.
Have a wonderful month ahead. Enjoy and rock during the month. Its going to be a hectic month for me so once again my visits to the blogs will be fewer but will keep sharing some thoughts and mails as usual. Thanks to fellow bloggers for giving their valuable comments on my blogs and encouraging me to keep posting.

Son
This is great, take a moment to read it, it will make your day! The ending will surprise you Take my Son
A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art.
When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son. About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.
He said, "Sir, you don"t know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art." The young man held out this package. "I know this isn"t much. I"m not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this."
The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture. "Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It"s a gift."
The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.
The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection.
On the platform sat the painting of the son The auctioneer pounded his gavel. "We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?"
There was silence.
Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, "We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one."
But the auctioneer persisted. "Will somebody bid for this painting. Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?"
Another voice angrily. "We didn"t come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Gogh"s, the Rembrandt"s. Get on with the real bids!"
But still the auctioneer continued. "The son! The son! Who"ll take the son?"
Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. "I"ll give $10 for the painting." Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.
"We have $10, who will bid $20?"
"Give it to him for $10. Let"s see the masters."
"$10 is the bid, won"t someone bid $20?"
The crowd was becoming angry. They didn"t want the picture of the son. They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.
The auctioneer pounded the gavel. "Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!"
A man sitting on the second row shouted, "Now let"s get on with the collection!" The auctioneer laid down his gavel. "I"m sorry, the auction is over."
"What about the paintings?"
"I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings.
The man who took the son gets everything!"
God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is: "The son, the son, who"ll take the son?"
Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.
FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE...THAT"S LOVE
Do whatever you like, but remember that maybe "one" of the people you might have taken the time to send this to, may be just the person who needs to hear this message. You have a choice to make.
God bless....-- A friend 4 ever Relations are all about three things - Winning, Losing and Sharing. Winning heart, Losing ego and Sharing joy & sorrow. So always be related.

The Stone cutter
Hi
I received the following story in yesterday"s mail. After reading the same, one realises that you are better off with what you are......happiness is within oneself........not in material things or anything with power. There is nobody powerful than you....realise that and be happy.
There was once a stone cutter who was dissatisfied with himself and with his position in life.
One day he passed a wealthy merchant"s house. Through the open gateway, he saw many fine possessions and important visitors. "How powerful that merchant must be!" thought the stone cutter. He became very envious and wished that he could be like the merchant. To his great surprise, he suddenly became the merchant, enjoying more luxuries and power than he had ever imagined, but envied and detested by those less wealthy than himself. Soon a high official passed by, carried in a sedan chair, accompanied by attendants and escorted by soldiers beating gongs. Everyone, no matter how wealthy, had to bow low before the procession. "How powerful that official is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be a high official!" Then he became the high official, carried everywhere in his embroidered sedan chair, feared and hated by the people all around. It was a hot summer day, so the official felt very uncomfortable in the sticky sedan chair. He looked up at the sun. It shone proudly in the sky, unaffected by his presence. "How powerful the sun is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be the sun!" Then he became the sun, shining fiercely down on everyone, scorching the fields, cursed by the and laborers. But a huge black cloud moved between him and the earth, so that his light could no longer shine on everything below. "How powerful that storm cloud is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be a cloud!"
Then he became the cloud, flooding the fields and villages, shouted at by everyone. But soon he found that he was being pushed away by some great force, and realized that it was the wind. "How powerful it is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be the wind!"
Then he became the wind, blowing tiles off the roofs of houses, uprooting trees, feared and hated by all below him. But after a while, he ran up against something that would not move, no matter how forcefully he blew against it - a huge, towering rock. "How powerful that rock is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be a rock!" Then he became the rock, more powerful than anything else on earth. But as he stood there, he heard the sound of a hammer pounding a chisel into the hard surface, and felt himself being changed. "What could be more powerful than I, the rock?" he thought.
He looked down and saw far below him the figure of a stone cutter. A friend 4 ever Relations are all about three things - Winning, Losing and Sharing. Winning heart, Losing ego and Sharing joy & sorrow.
So always be related.

Time is short
Hi
Came across this in a blog and thought it was worth sharing.
I was lucky to come across the works of a very good writer Kennedy James and I want to share his thoughts with you. As he said, the life that you share with others has an importance that knows no equal.Time Is Short . . . There are people waiting. Some of them are from your past. They think about you every day, or they think about you only every once in a while. It doesn"t matter. You have to know that they are there. They remember you fondly. They wait. They wait for your call or your letter, something that says you"re still around, anything that says you"re all right with the world. They wait and they wonder. You need to let them know. There are people waiting. They live with you now. They look at you every day with expectation. They don"t want much, or maybe they want too much. It doesn"t matter. You have to know that they are there. They watch you with care in their eyes, love in their hearts. They just need a nod of your head, some recognition, some flicker of acceptance in your eyes. They wait and they wonder. You need to let them know.
There are people waiting. They will become a part of your future. Some you have met maybe once or twice. Some you haven"t met at all. It doesn"t matter. You have to know they are there. Each one may become your closest friend, your lover, or your worst enemy. It"s impossible to predict.Just know that they are there, waiting to become a part of your life. They will want to give something to you, and they will want to take something from you. Only you can decide what you will take and what you will give. You will need to let them know.Time is short. The life you share with others has an importance that knows no equal. There are people waiting … for you. It"s time that you stopped waiting too.http://blog.wayn.com/msazarconWe sometimes feel so alone and lonely. We feel wounded and scarred. But through it all, just remember... scarred people are beautiful.

Humour
Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Bob. So they loaded up Jack"s minivan and headed north. After driving for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. So they pulled into a nearby farm and asked the attractive lady who answered the door if they could spend the night.
"I realize it"s terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all to myself, but I"m recently widowed," she explained. "I"m afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house."
"Don"t worry," Jack said. "We"ll be happy to sleep in the barn. And if the weather breaks, we"ll be gone at first light."
The lady agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn and settled in for the night. Come morning, the weather had cleared, and they got ontheir way.
They enjoyed a great weekend of skiing.
But about nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but he finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow he had met on the ski weekend.
He dropped in on his friend Bob and asked, "Bob, do you remember that good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our ski holiday up north ab out 9 months ago ?"
"Yes, I do." said Bob
"Did you, er, happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?"
"Well, um, yes!," Bob said, a little embarrassed about being found out, "I have to admit that I did."
"And did you happen to give her my name instead of telling her your name?"
Bob"s face turned beet red and he said, "Yeah, look, I"m sorry, buddy. I"m afraid I did. Why do you ask?"
"She just died and left me everything."
